[Also in Division G1] In a method of securing a metal handle16 to a metal blade 15, suitable for use as a dipstick for an internal combustion engine, ametal tube is slid over the upper end of the blade, the tube and the contained portion ofthe blade being bent into the shape of a hook. The blade, which is provided with markings18 is first formed with offset portions 23, 34 which support it in position on the engine.The handle is swaged to form a portion 25 of increased diameter, and the handle is slidover the blade until a flange 27 contacts the upper ends of the portions 23, 24, when theblade and handle are bent to the hook shape shown.
