摘要：Magnesium is recovered from a superheated gaseous mixture comprisingessentially carbon monoxide gas and magnesium vapor by shock-cooling the vaporouscomposition with a spray of liquid magnesium preferably heated to a temperature nearits vaporization temperature, that is to a temperature between about 800 and 1100°C.
The liquid magnesium is instantly vaporized with a large absorption of high temperatureheat and the vaporous mixture is thereby cooled to a temperature to below about thevaporization temperature of magnesium that is to below about 1500 °C. The resultantvaporous magnesium is recovered by condensation to produce a molten magnesiumproduct.
